The parents of an expected baby girl wanted their little 3 year-old daughter to share a nursery with the baby. Each child would require their own personalized space incorporating child-like fantasy and whimsey without relying on the typical pink and white themed approach. To counter the expected, blue and taupe floral wallcovering was installed as backdrop and a blue and cream ceiling was painted with a center cartouche. Window and bed draperies were exaggerated with a brightly striped cornice and crown structure over the crib. A custom-built playhouse, opposite the crib, added to the vertical scale of the room and accommodated a single or double bed, with a loft above and compartments for toy and clothing storage. It created its own environment. The luxurious bed draperies contained the crib space and shielded the baby from noise and light. Each child had their own unique area within the limited total space of the room, and the parents had satisfaction in knowing that the room could easily transition into a guest room in the future. << Back to Eclectic/Specialty Rooms |
